Although news like this defeat of "intelligent design" in the Kansas classroom might be considered heartening, it is worth remembering that the vote was 6-4. Scientists need to stop slavishly clinging to proper terminology and throw the word theory out the window for discussions in popular media. In fact, evolution is really more akin to a law than a theory (natural selection would be the pertinent genuine theory, although even that is less and less true) in any case.
