He Made Me Eat Fascist Ideology

Alas, in much the same way I imagine it was difficult for Thyestes to judge the meal Atreus served him on its culinary merits once the ingredients were revealed, I now find myself unable to appreciate the books of John C. Wright, having exposed myself to too much of his blog.

I wondered how long it would take you to hate him. ;)

But you really can no longer enjoy his books now that you know too much about his personal beliefs?
You liked them when you were ignorant of his insanity.

Oddly enough, not a single book published so far was written after his conversion to his current belief system, so you could still at least enjoy his earlier works.

His next book is a sequel to Van Vogt's Null-A series. You should read this one, at least, to see if his personal world view comes through in his works. Some authors don't preach during their storytelling; some do. Which is he?

Is that really true? Because his Everness books do have a vicious Ayn Rand undertow running through them...

But I guess I should clarify. A good author doesn't bludgeon his or her audience with the authorial worldview; I wouldn't necessarily expect Wright's books to do so. Whatever else he is, he is a more than competent writer and storyteller.

It is just that too much exposure to his Coulteresque inner clockwork damages my appreciation for his work, whether or not it is overt in his work. Call it my own personal failing.

I can see that. I too fear that my new found knowledge of his beliefs and assholeness may taint my enjoyment of his books.

But I think I am more disappointed in his blog because I enjoyed it so much when I first discovered it and now...
