It wasn't a great day for swimming in New South Wales, as it turned out to be the Pacific's laundry day. It apparently has one perhaps once every three decades. From the article:
"Scientists explain that the foam is created by impurities in the ocean, such as salts, chemicals, dead plants, decomposed fish and excretions from seaweed."
